The Relationship among Daily Stress, Optimism and Psychological Well-Being of College Students

Abstract
This study examined the moderating and mediating effects of optimism in the relationship between daily stress and psychological well-being among college students. A sample of 465 college students(male; 222, female; 243) completed self-report measures of daily stress, optimism, psychological well-being. In analyzing data, this study employed statistical terms and methods such as correlation analysis, hierarchical regression and the Structural Equation Modeling, SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 program. In clarifying the significance of mediating effects, the Sobel test was used. The results were as follows; (1) The optimism was confirmed to have a moderating effect on daily stress and psychological well-being. (2) The partial mediation model of optimism was identified to be better than full mediation model, and the mediation effects of optimism was significant. Based on these results, theoretical and practical implications as well as suggestions for future research in this area were discussed.
